Business people succeed at their business, making products and providing services that they know best. But they don’t always know how to tell their potential customers about them, or where to find them. It used to be that an ad in the yellow pages or in the newspaper was the best you could do. Word of mouth is effective too; happy customers will sing your praises (or bury you deep if they’re dissatisfied). Today the world market is exactly that, an entire world that wants your product, they just don’t know who you are. The worldwide web and video advertising are the latest tools to promote your business and product and services to everyone who has access to a computer (and most decision makers do). A premier, reputable online marketing company is able to produce quality video to increase your organization’s visibility on the net.

You are the inventor, the manufacturer, the owner of the business. But you realise that you are not in a position to do your own advertising. The internet has developed a sophisticated audience that thrives on how a message is delivered, the average decision maker spends about two seconds deciding whether or not to hit the next key and open your website up. A message has to get their interest fast and then hold it. It takes the right combination of skill, artistic talent and knowledge of the intended audience to do this. Each audience has a particular need and way to approach it, direct or subtle, artistic or straightforward information, everyday language or jargon.

Your advertisement must be developed, fine tuned and aimed at the potential buyer in a fashion they will feel comfortable in seeing and hearing.

When you have made your decision to use internet video advertising, it’s time to set some criteria. Cost is obvious, quality is not free. There are some very expensive agencies and they deal with the biggest clients. Can you afford them; do they have time to give you the attention you need? Which market are you trying to reach? If you are a very specialised company, perhaps a smaller agency is best since you will be aiming at a segment of the web audience.

It is important to establish a rapport with the developers. These are technical artists. They love their work and take great pride in it, they should be appreciated. But remember to try to express what you want clearly, if you don’t know what you want how can they make it for you? This will be a cooperative, creative team effort.

When the finished advertisement is done, review it and then get it online. Testing the effectiveness of the ad is where you will learn much, using SEO (search engine optimization) will get your advertisement picked up quickly on Google, Yahoo and Bing searches. SEO is the icing on the internet advertising cake and your online marketing company should be able to assist with SEO efforts.

EyeWitness is an online marketing company that specialises in video advertising. They incorporate full service video production with marketing campaign strategies that can boost web traffic for any business.

Following his recent attendance at the Scottish Tele-Healthcare summit, held within Aldourie Castle in Inverness and hosted by Highlands & the Islands Enterprise, Tom Morton, CEO of Argyll [http://www.argyll-loneworker.co.uk] , realised that whilst there was a clear appetite within clinicians and care providers for the exploration and possible adoption of new mobile technology to improve and extend the quality and levels of care being delivered to service users, there was no real appetite for the risks associated in trialling such equipment.

Consequently Tom decided to conduct a trial himself by travelling the length of the new Hadrians Wall National Trail that runs from Wallsend in North Tyneside and Bowness-on-Solway in Cumbria, a distance of approximately 84 miles and that follows the original path of the Roman wall built between AD100 and AD160 through city streets, suburban residential areas, small rural villages and the open countryside.

Argyll [http://www.argyll-loneworker.co.uk] CEO Tom Morton (46) was accompanied on the trip by Michael Johnson (60), a long-standing family friend. The duo set off at 2pm on Friday 6th August with an aim to complete the trail within 4 days. A Smartcare GPS device, containing a mobile phone, global positioning system (GPS), fall detection sensor and an SOS button to summons assistance placed inside each of their rucksacks. Both devices were linked to a 24/7 monitoring facility to handle any alarms raised. In order to test the mobile phone coverage, one device was connected to O2 and the other to Orange/Everywhere.

Both devices were configured to use GPS to trace positions over a maximum of 16 hours each day between 0600 and 2200 hours and to plot their exact positions at intervals of 10 minutes. Individual device ‘wake up’ times were also staggered to commence their reporting 5 minutes apart. Position reports were displayed, via the internet, on a familiar Google® map where friends, family and colleagues were able to visit the Argyll company website and view the intrepid duo’s progress.

Information included their current location, prior historical movements leading up to that point and their current speed and direction of travel. The site also enabled viewers to send messages of support (and comfort!) to their personal mobile phone using a combination of Twitter and sms text messaging. Fundamentally this also served to reassure family by confirming that they had arrived safely at their planned overnight accommodation.

Following the trial, Tom said “This was a hard and demanding trek but our spirits were continuously lifted along the way as we met some fascinating people. Those worth particular mention include Sammy, Angie and Kev plus Scooby the Jack Russell (who didn’t care much for Michaels day-glo rucksack cover) who had just walked the Antonine Wall and were dressed in Roman Centurion and full army combat gear and collecting cash in tins for ‘Help For Heroes’; Paul Cocoran an ex-Army veteran raising profile for the Rifles charity for those injured in Afghanistan and who was carrying everything including the kitchen sink (literally!) plus the most senior coast-to-coast walkers (on this trip) 86 years old ex-Navy Jed and his friend ex-builder Brian, both representing the ‘Idle Working Mens Club’ near Bradford.

“I am clearly a huge advocate for the use of mobile technology within a healthcare setting and I wanted to prove that this type of technology can be utilised as part of the package of support and care that will enable people suffering from falls or with long-term chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s to live more independent lifestyles.

“One of the barriers levied against deployment of this technology is the potential harm that any technical failure, associated with the adoption of any new technologies, could cause to both service user confidence and clinical reputation. I do hope that in completing this coast to coast trial, I have successfully tested, demonstrated and proven the resilience of the technology within and behind the Smartcare and that this will build confidence within clinicians and service users to assuage those initial fears.”

Michael is already a fan. He first became interested in the technology when Argyll [http://www.argyll-loneworker.co.uk] presented his mother-in-law with a Smartcare GPS after she suffered a broken arm during a fall onto ice last winter and after an attempted burglary occurrence within the space of one year.

“My mother-in-law is in her 80’s and leads an active and fiercely independent lifestyle. She already had a red button and neck pendant for use at home. Whilst simple to understand, this proved to be of little use to her whenever she went into the garden, or left the house to walk the dog, go shopping or to visit her friends.

“The Smartcare GPS is just as easy to understand, the simple mobile phone feature is a great benefit providing simple call buttons and a dedicated SOS function, but it offers our entire family valuable comfort and reassurance of her personal safety and well-being should she fall or need assistance. This means that no matter where she goes we can always call her and with the addition of the Internet mapping service, we can now go and join her if she doesn’t answer our call!”

Foregenix launches forensically-sound cardholder data discovery tool for PCI

FScout software uses data discovery to reduce PCI DSS scope, risk and exposure

Leatherhead, 23rd August 2010 – Digital forensics and incident response specialists, Foregenix today announced the availability of its cardholder data discovery tool, FScout. FScout’s proprietary technology identifies any unprotected and legacy cardholder data on laptops, desktops and servers across a business. The software alerts clients and identifies the unprotected cardholder data so that it can be securely removed or encrypted to reduce the business exposure, PCI scope and risk of data compromise. In addition to risk reduction, the solution is used to reduce the scope (and associated costs) of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) across the enterprise. Leading card payment processors Commidea, Servebase and CreditCall are among the proactive companies currently running the software as part of their commitment to compliance and risk management.

FScout maintains the integrity of the host system as it scans for unprotected credit card data. FScout’s forensically-sound approach ensures that the forensic integrity of files as well as the entire system is not disturbed should there be a need for an investigation. It uses intelligent scanning to identify unprotected cardholder data across an organisation’s systems, including normal files, deleted files, unallocated areas of the disk and slack space. This functionality, combined with its centralised and customisable reporting capabilities assists security managers in identifying and addressing future cardholder ‘data leaks’ across the organisation, thus working towards an account data sterile environment.

“FScout is an invaluable tool in our compliance toolkit. Its use helps us to validate and manage our PCI scope and ensure that we have no data leakage through regular monitoring of our business systems. We already know that PCI DSS v2 is likely to require the use of cardholder data discovery tools as part of both scoping and validation and FScout addresses that requirement” said Marc White, Head of Security and Compliance at Commidea Ltd. “FScout is in my opinion, best of breed, accurate, fast, reliable and a valuable addition to every security team’s PCI armoury.”

“As a key partner in our security strategy, Foregenix provides a proactive, well supported and refreshing view on PCI DSS Compliance. The release of FScout further demonstrates their proactive stance towards securing customer data and in particular, cardholder data,”said Salvatore Cicero, CTO of Servebase. “Its reporting gives us the ability to regularly scan our entire business to ensure that there is no unprotected credit or debit card data being exposed. Going forward FScout will form an integral part of our security strategy of monitoring for risk.”

“The Foregenix cardholder data discovery tool FScout fits extremely well, alongside other existing tools in the PCI DSS world, in the category of useful and efficient tools in reducing risk. We are looking forward to be able to use FScout to be more efficient regarding PCI compliance and risk reduction of our contract partners and merchants,” said Michael Fraenken, Senior Risk Manager from acquiring bank Postbank P.O.S. Transact GmbH, Germany.

FScout works on multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, Open BSD/FreeBSD and Solaris.

About Foregenix

Foregenix is an independent, specialised information security business, headquartered in the United Kingdom, with a global service delivery capability. The Foregenix team has been closely involved with the payment card Industry since the inception of the security standards in 2004, and have carried out numerous PCI DSS assessments, PA-DSS assessments, penetration tests and forensic investigations on hundreds of organisations during this time. Its technical team has extensive experience in digital security, having worked as security consultants, analysts and engineers in a wide array of environments; including global financial institutions, global networking and security providers. www.foregenix.com

Telsis expertise in multi-protocol environments, coupled to the company’s technology road-map for bridging current and next-generation networks, has won it a ground-breaking deal with Vodafone Netherlands.

Following a three month trial, Vodafone is to deploy upgraded Telsis protocol conversion platforms, enabling it to offer large public and private sector enterprises a direct connection to its network via SIP, the voice over IP protocol, in addition to a range of existing legacy connection schemes.

Vodafone customers will experience a contemporary integrated fixed and mobile voice solution enabling their unified communications to increase efficiency, manageability, and to save costs.

Vodafone solution manager Jo Smits explains: “We have a large number of Telsis protocol converters at multiple sites throughout the Netherlands and over the last five years they have enabled us to position Vodafone as the country’s most flexible operator. They allow enterprise customers to connect their PBXs and ACDs to our network using almost any standards-based legacy protocol they choose, as well as proprietary versions. We’re getting increasing interest in SIP as organisations begin migrating to SIP based PBXs. So the question was could Telsis move Vodafone and its customers smoothly into the world of IP?

“The Telsis roadmap for voice platforms offers several different options for creating even greater value for our direct connect customers by adding intelligence and applications, but for now Telsis has proved conclusively that it has a very thorough understanding of SIP. Telsis not only delivered a fully standards compliant solution for the trial, but demonstrated that at very short notice it can deliver proprietary flavours of the protocol too. As a result, we’ll soon be offering IP connectivity to our customers, starting with one of our Telsis sites and upgrading the rest in a phased programme as customer demand continues to grow.”

Telsis products are in use with major mobile and fixed network operators worldwide. The company has an extensive range of carrier-grade infrastructure solutions including SMS Routing and IN voice platforms, as well as media gateways for NGN and VoIP support. Telsis has a long history of enabling operators to benefit from the introduction of innovative value added services, and is now leading the industry in defining a new global standard for SMS service usability and customer experience.
Vodafone is one of the largest communication providers in the Netherlands and member of Vodafone Group, the largest international mobile communication provider worldwide, participating in mobile operators in 31 countries over five continents, and with partner networks in approximately 40 countries worldwide. As at 31 March 2010 Vodafone had a customer base of over 340 million worldwide.
The software now blurs the boundary between pre-created templates from a library and custom designs from a design studio.

Businesses can now select a design that reflects the ‘type’ of look they are after and customise the design to perfectly match their business. Emma Watkins, Reason8′s UK Manager, states, “This new software, changes the market. This is now the only product that offers the three things that our clients want: jaw-dropping customised designs, the ability to edit every facet of their website and a HTML website soul, that gives them great search engine results.”

Using the latest in web technologies the design editor allows anyone to create their own Flash designs within a HTML website.

August 23, 2010 (FPRC) — Amsterdam/Jersey City, August 23, 2010 – Djigzo, an open source email encryption company, has teamed with Comodo, a leading certificate authority and Internet security organization, to provide an easy to use email encryption and authentication solution.

As a result of this collaboration, the Djigzo email encryption and authentication gateway will be able to interface directly with Comodo’s managed Enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (EPKI). A fully automated certificate request procedure allows an organization to obtain trusted signing and encryption certificates for all gateway users without any user intervention, through its Djigzo server. By interfacing directly with Comodo’s managed Enterprise PKI, large organizations that need personal certificates for all employees can now automatically obtain the required certificates without having to use complex procedures for requesting certificates.

“Comodo email encryption certificates are automatically recognized by most email servers and clients,”said Martijn Brinkers, CEO of Djigzo.”This is especially important when digitally signing all outgoing email. Using Comodo certificates makes the Djgzo products even more easy to use for both end users and system administrators.”

Djigzo is an email encryption gateway that is fully open source. Djigzo is available for free by downloading from the website www.djigzo.com. Sources and documentation can be downloaded for free. Djigzo advocates that the open source model provides the best value for its customers.

“Enterprises and customers alike expect secure email transactions to send and receive information from any computer with protection from identity fraud and an experience to be hassle-free,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo CEO and chief security architect.”With this partnership we hope to leverage our strengths for the benefit of the customer creating peace of mind and trust online when emailing any document from anywhere.”

About Djigzo

Djigzo, based in Amsterdam, NL, provides open source products that allow companies to automatically secure their email and protect it against unauthorized access of email both in transit and at rest. Djigzo Email Encryption Gateway is a centrally managed email server (MTA) based on open source standards. It encrypts and decrypts your incoming and outgoing email at the gateway level. Djigzo supports two encryption standards: S/MIME and PDF encryption. Because Djigzo Email Encryption Gateway functions as a general SMTP email server, it is compatible with existing email infrastructures. Djigzo can be installed using one of the provided packages for Ubuntu Linux, Debian, Red Hat or CentOS. A ready to run “Virtual Appliance” for VMware ESX and Workstation is available.

About Comodo

With the economy continuing to squeeze companies of all sizes, budgets continue to be tight. After several years of budget cuts, it’s tough to find additional areas to trim. One way to put money back into your budget is through cheap conference calls. Conference calling can replace costly meetings, interviews, and other face-to-face gatherings – and plans are now cheaper than ever.

You’re likely familiar with conference call services and how they work, but have you taken the time to think of creative uses for these services? Rather than sticking to the traditional conference call as needed, think about the activities that your organization regularly participates in and then imagine how those activities might be conducted as a teleconference.

For example, do you regularly hold monthly sales meetings with your regional sales representatives at your main office? Even if your sales representatives serve territories just a few hours away, bringing each salesperson in for an in-person meeting can significantly affect productivity. If each person has to spend two hours each way commuting to your office just to attend the meeting, that’s four hours of lost productivity. If your team consists of ten sales people, that’s a full workweek lost simply getting to and from the office for this meeting. Holding cheap conference calls instead of requiring physical attendance solves this problem instantly as well as eliminates any fuel or transportation costs.

In addition to solving the logistics of getting your team to the office, conference calling also saves money related to the lost productivity of other staff members. It’s not uncommon for other team members to work less effectively when meetings like these are held onsite. Additional socialization takes place and some team members may be tasked with supporting the meeting in some capacity such as making copies or preparing the conference room.

Another expense related to physical meetings is food. For example, when holding longer meetings lunch is often provided for all attendees. Depending on the number of attendees and how often these meetings are held, this could be a significant drain on your budget. By moving away from in-person meetings to conference call services, you’ll reduce productivity losses, transportation costs, and incidental expenses while still achieving your goal of communicating with your team.

This regional sales meeting scenario is but one example of how cheap conference calls can put money back into your budget, but it’s far from the only way you can do so. Other ideas include holding teleclasses and teleconferences rather than traditional workshops and conferences. For example, if your organization hosts regular industry workshops or classes that require renting large meeting halls, catering, and other expenses, consider using conference call services in place of these live events.

Conference calling can also reduce hiring expenses, especially if many of your job candidates are from out of the area. It’s not unusual for job candidate to go through a series of screenings before the final face-to-face interview. Cheap conference calls can be used during the later stages to introduce a potential candidate to the entire hiring team including human resources managers, department managers, and other people with a vested interest in the candidate. Using conference calling at this stage can lead to better decisions before investing in the final interview.

Conference call services take many forms. If you haven’t reviewed your conference calling plan recently, a thorough review is in order. By understanding your current and future usage, you may find that your current conference calling plan is not the best one for you. Calling patterns do change with time; however, some companies are slow in changing their plans to reflect the way they are using these services. Not only that, competition within the telecommunications industry has led to lower priced service plans. Switching from a high cost plan to a plan that offers cheap conference calls and the features that you use the most could positively affect your budget.

Conference calling is a convenient, though often underused, communications tool that can save your company money. Plan a brainstorming session and figure out how you can use conference call services to put money back into your budget.

AIT is a conference call company that offers high quality, low cost conference calling to fit any budget. Among the many options offered are cheap conference calls, toll free conference calling, unlimited flat rate plans, pay-as-you-go plans, prepaid conference calling, and global conference call services.
